Publishers try to sell there physical products still through standard retail channels were costs can take up 60% of the product. There is quite often a chance that your specific magazine, CD,DVD, paper will be scrapped on your costs because it isn’t sold. Customer engagement of your unique product which addresses a niche needs to be sold more cost efficient. So why not use the online retail shops like BOL, Amazon….
Big music & entertainment publishers are cutting down domestic releases (if they are below a certain tresh-hold), shutting labels and optimize profit as good as it gets. So online retailers will be more essential to do the customer engagement and interact with the customers to get back the variation in publications.
The success online retailers have since 2005 is a proven success. The next era is coming now. What is your strategy?
